A Trigg County third-grader is the grand prize winner of the Hopkinsville Fire Department’s Design-A-Shield for Fire Prevention Contest.

Abigail Abrams designed the winning fire shield to recognize Fire Prevention Month in October. She received an HFD helmet with her shield on it.

Other winners were Millbrooke Elementary fifth grader Eli Gilliland; University Heights Academy sixth grader Rhyder Dowse; South Christian Elementary fourth grader Audrey Baehring; and UHA fourth grader Ellia Adams.

Chief Steve Futrell and the fire prevention team presented the students with their shields last week.
