Sanctuary, Inc. Recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Sanctuary, Inc. is working to spread the message all month.

The awareness campaign started with participation in the Mahr Park Bale Trail in Madisonville on September 15 and will end on October 31. A special proclamation was shared during Tuesday night’s Hopkinsville City Council.

Sanctuary’s Community Engagement Coordinator Zirconia Vansauwa said the next event is Friday night during the Christian County vs. Daviess County football game at the Stadium of Champions.

Vansauwa is encouraging everyone to participate in ‘Wear Purple Wednesday’ throughout the month. Santuary, Inc. has shirts and sweaters you can wear to show your support.

Another way you can support Sanctuary, Inc. this month is by participating in the Hoptown Half-Marathon and 5K on Saturday, October 21. Executive Director Heather Lancaster said they are very appreciative to be one of the recipients of this year’s proceeds.

Lancaster added they are always available to assist those who are dealing with domestic violence or sexual assault.

Sanctuary, Inc. serves residents in Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Livingston, Lyon, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Trigg counties. Learn more by clicking here.
