Christian County And Hopkinsville Bands Have Strong Weekend

Per Christian County High School Director of Bands Anthony Darnall, the Colonels and Tigers Band just finished up a strong weekend in performance.

At the Warren East Invitational, the Colonels were tops in Class 4A with the best guard and percussion awards. Owensboro finished second. The Colonels were also named “Overall Grand Champion” as the top scoring band regardless of class, with Red Devils named “Reserve Grand Champion.”

In the Muhlenberg County Classic, a non-sanctioned KMEA contest, Christian County earned second — just behind Central Hardin. The Colonels also earned top overall percussion in a field that also included Owensboro, Logan County, Ohio County, Barren County and Marshall County.

In the Daviess County Spectacular, the Band of Tigers earned “Reserve Grand Champion” and finished second in Class 4A behind Madisonville North Hopkins. The Maroons were also named overall “Grand Champion.” Hopkinsville earned top honors in “overall guard.”

Furthermore, Trigg County took third overall in Class 2A at the Warren East Invitational. Hancock County took first with “Best Guard” and “Percussion,” Russellville took second, McLean County took fourth and Butler County finished fifth.
