A Hopkinsville man was charged after he allegedly pointed a gun at his wife and assaulted a police officer on Aspen Drive Tuesday night.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called to the area for 30-year-old Shawn Boykin who was following his wife around in a vehicle after pointing a gun at her and threatening her. While officers were talking with Boykin, police say he would not follow commands to stay outside of the house and reached for his waistband as he was fighting officers and entering the house.
Police say during the physical fight with officers, an officer was kicked and Boykin was tased twice before he was taken into custody.
Boykin was found to have a gun that had slipped down his pants leg.
He was arrested and charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree terroristic threatening, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, using restricted ammo during a felony (no shots), third-degree assault of a police officer, and first-degree wanton endangerment.
