AT&T Working To Restore Lafayette Cell Phone Service

AT&T has released a statement concerning a coverage outage around the Lafayette area of Christian County.

The outage, which occurred at the end of August, was caused by damage to a third-party tower. AT&T said a mobile cell site is in place until a permanent solution is put back into place.

Christian County Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam and Magistrate J.E. Pryor have both been in conversations with AT&T and the tower owner. According to the owner, a new tower has been ordered and is expected to arrive within the next four to six weeks.

Additionally, the total restoration of the tower should be completed within the next two months. Gilliam and Pryor said they are working on additional remedies with other towers in the area.
