Lafayette Woman Dies After Buffalo Road Crash

A Lafayette woman died at the hospital after being rescued from an SUV that ran off the road into high water at the intersection of Buffalo Road and Gracey-Sinking Fork Road in Christian County Sunday morning.

Christian County emergency personnel say an SUV ran off the road at the intersection trapping four children and 68-year-old Marcia Jordon inside the vehicle in the high water. Jordon, who was trapped in the vehicle, was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Only the top of the vehicle could be seen in the high water.

Christian County Sheriff’s Deputies say a medical problem may have caused the crash.

The children and Jordon were pulled from the vehicle by Gracey firefighter Colin Champion who is also a Hopkinsville firefighter and advanced EMT,  Gracey firefighter Daniel Davis who is a Hopkinsville EMT, Christian County Rescue Member Jay Isom, and the following Gracey firefighters Austin Scott, Beth and Garrett Keaton.

A passerby also stopped and helped in the rescue but left without giving his name. The children were not injured in the crash.
