A Hopkinsville man died Sunday while incarcerated in the Daviess County Jail in Owensboro.

WFIE-TV in Evansville reported that 22-year-old Darrius Quarles collapsed and died Sunday morning in the jail. Their report said Kentucky State Police responded to the jail for reports of a collapsed inmate.

Trooper Corey King told the station that a video in the jail showed Quarles collapsing on his own. He added there had been some type of altercation earlier in the day.

The Daviess County Jail released a statement that said Quarles passed out as officials were working to identify which inmates participated in the fight.
