A plea deal could happen this month in the case of a Hopkinsville man charged with punching a pregnant woman last year.

20-year-old Tyquarius Stubbs is charged with second-degree attempted fetal homicide, second-degree assault, first-degree strangulation, intimidating a participant in a legal process, and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

During his appearance in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday morning, Stubbs’ attorney Eric Bearden said a plea deal in the case could be struck this week and announced at his court appearance next Wednesday.

Stubbs was arrested by Hopkinsville Police last August after he allegedly got into an argument over the father of his ex-girlfriend’s baby. He then reportedly hit the woman in the face with a belt, choked her with his hands, and then punched and kicked her while she was 16 weeks pregnant.

Stubbs allegedly took her phone when she tried to call for police and blocked the exit door with a table. She was reportedly able to get out of the home and go to her car as he chased her and threatened her before she was able to drive away.
