Steven Kazee, 75, of Hopkinsville

Steven Wayne Kazee, 75, of Hopkinsville, died at 7:18 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Nashville VA Medical Center. 

Graveside services with military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.  Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. 

A native of Henderson, KY he was born February 27, 1948, the son of the late Allan J. Kazee and Nancy Clay Kazee.  He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.  He was a Purple Heart Recipient.  He was a Helicopter Pilot in the service and later went back and served as an instructor pilot. 

When he wasn’t in service to his country Steven had a vast array of careers.  While living in Las Vegas he designed swimming pools and later went on to deal Blackjack in the Las Vegas Casinos.  While here in Kentucky, he owned and operated S&J Trucking and Paradise Auto Sales. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Kazee. 

Survivors include his wife:  Janis L. Kazee; his son:  Steven Wayne “Troy” Kazee, Jr. and Jennifer of Oak Grove, KY; his stepson:  Mike A. Newsom, Jr., and Lana of Hopkinsville, KY; his sister:  Robin A. French of Henderson, KY; his brother:  Duane H. Kazee of Fairview, TN; his three grandchildren:  Kyle, Devin, and Liam; his five great-grandchildren:  Carter, Callie, Ciaya, Alannah, and Archie; his dear friends:  Curtis Sherbondy II and Laura; his special niece:  Dakota Quarles and Trell; his special great nieces:  Abitha and KaMillah; and several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to The Wounded Warrior Project or the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Wreath Trust.
