A Hopkinsville man was charged with severely assaulting his wife on East 23rd Street in Hopkinsville Friday night.
Hopkinsville Police say 39-year-old John Foster struck his wife in the head with his fist multiple times, dragged her into the home by her hair, hit her head on a screen door, then forcefully took her phone and would not allow her to leave. During the altercation, he allegedly grabbed her by the throat, restricting her breathing, and causing her throat to swell.
Police say she was taken to the hospital by private vehicle due to having difficulties remembering the attack and answering simple questions.
Foster was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation, second-degree assault (domestic violence), and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
