National Weather Service To Survey Marshall-Lyon Storm Damage

A storm survey team from the National Weather Service in Paducah is expected to survey storm damage in Marshall and Lyon counties early this week to determine what caused the damages.

Lead Forecaster Justin Gibbs mentioned the damage during a Sunday severe weather update.

click to download audioThe News Edge reported Saturday night there were multiple reports of funnel clouds were relayed, as a Tornado Warning was issued for Marshall, Lyon, and Caldwell counties.

Trained weather spotters reported trees down in Moors Campground in Marshall County. Extensive damage was also reported in the Twin Lakes Campground area in Lyon County, with roads completely blocked. During the storm, the Caldwell County Mesonet site reported a wind gust of around 50 MPH.

During the past four days, the National Weather Service in Paducah said they issued 154 severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings for the forecast area, including Western Kentucky, the southern portions of Illinois and Indiana, and southeast Missouri.
