Emergency Preparedness Kits Class Coming To Eddyville

A pair of emergency preparedness classes, provided by the American Red Cross, are coming soon to the people of Eddyville and Lyon County.

At 1 PM June 28, officials will be at the Lyon County Library, located at 261 Commerce Street in Eddyville. And at 5:30 PM June 29, the same crew will be at the Lyon County Convention Center, located at 309 Lee S. Jones Park Road in Eddyville.

Behind a 30-minute program, the ARC will be unspooling a “Be Ready” presentation, in which families will be given strong concepts on how to create a disaster emergency kit.

After the meeting, every family will be presented with a NOAA Weather Radio. While families and individuals do use cell phones for severe weather alerts, weather radios are a perfect complement — and are reliable with cell phone transmissions might fail.

Families should have more than one alert system at their disposal.

Floods, severe weather and home fires are unfortunately becoming more frequent, and they can be devastating to unprepared persons.

This national standardized class is free, and its curriculum is taught by certified presenters.
