A Madisonville man was charged after he allegedly assaulted a woman on Sivley Road in Hopkinsville Sunday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say 31-year-old Traviel Civils got into an argument with a woman over money he owed her and held her down, struck her in the face, burned her with a cigarette, and choked her.
Police say she suffered multiple scratches, cuts, and marks on her face, neck, and chest.
Civils was arrested and charged with first-degree strangulation, and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
