Earthquakes Reported Monday Night In McLean And Hopkins Counties

A pair of earthquakes were felt in western Kentucky on Monday night.

West Kentucky Star reports that around 9:45 PM, the first, a magnitude 3.0 was recorded in McLean County, near Calhoun, 19 miles southwest of Owensboro. Four minutes later and about five miles away, the second, a magnitude 2.4 quake was recorded in Hopkins County, 24 miles southwest of Owensboro.

As of Tuesday morning, 27 people reported feeling the McLean County quake, one from as far away as Louisville. Multiple media outlets in Evansville also received numerous reports from those feeling the McLean County quake.

Two reports of people feeling the Hopkins County quake were received by the USGS from the Calhoun community.

No damage has been reported.
