Man Charged With Fleeing From Police

A Hopkinsville man was charged with wanton endangerment of a police officer and receiving stolen property after a traffic stop in Oak Grove Friday morning.

Oak Grove Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle on Fort Campbell Boulevard that had been reported stolen in Oak Grove and also had a tag that was reported stolen in Fort Campbell.

When they turned around to conduct a traffic stop the driver 49-year-old William Davis Jr. reportedly parked the vehicle at Verizon Wireless and got out walking south to Clarksville.

Police say when they got out with Davis he fled on foot into the middle of the road and resisted arrest. After he was arrested and taken to jail he was reportedly found to have drugs and a suspected meth pipe on him.

He is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), first-degree promoting contraband, two counts of receiving stolen property, and two counts of being a fugitive from another state.
