Trigg Leadership Class Celebrates Revamped Convention Center Stage

Members of the Trigg County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class for 2023 got to stand on the fruits of their labor Thursday afternoon at the weekly “Lunch & Learn” — celebrating at the Lexie Bush Convention Center on a newly-renovated stage.

Originally built in the late 1970s by the Harper Brothers, class spokesman Todd Wallace said its repair was the centerpiece of the class project.

The team’s effort, however, also included highly-successful raffles of three Trigg-centric gift baskets some select rare bourbon choices.

Those monies, as well as some needs drives, were then redistributed to a pair of Trigg County non-profits, Simple Blessings and Helping Hands. Respective representatives in Stephanie Keller and Linda Copeland were stunned Thursday, when $5,000 checks were revealed.

This year’s Trigg County Youth Leadership Class included a number of recognizable and active faces: Avery Ethridge, Landi Rogers, Brayden Jones, Anna Sink, Madison Kennedy, Sarah Elizabeth Sink, Tayshaun Linton, Aniston Stewart, Riley Miller, Luke Terrell, Brandon Moser, Laura Kate Thomas, Alesha Nyakeraka, Sadie Utter and Rhett Plymale.

Each student gave a 30-second summary of their experience with the year-long commitment, which detailed the many out-of-class opportunities the group had within the region.

Beth Sumner, Trigg County Chamber of Commerce membership director, noted “Military Day” at Fort Campbell seemed to be a favorite.

Another small touch for the project: a pair of new American and Commonwealth flags and stands from WoodmenLife Chapter 20.

Other Leadership Project donors and facilitators involved were Tim Wadlington of Wadlington Sawmill, Matt Holland and Jim Dulin of Dulin Designs, Jake, Chris Wallace and staff of Wallace Construction, Kentucky Machine & Engineering, the Trigg County Fiscal Court, Billy Fortner of the Trigg County Recreation Complex, Cadiz-Trigg County Parks and Recreation, and the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission.
