After two years at Morningside, she began her tenure with Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary where she taught until 2017.

Caples is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School. She completed her studies at Hopkinsville Community College and Murray State University. She holds a Rank I certification and double masters from Walden University and Murray State University. She also holds an endorsement from Western Kentucky University in gifted and talented studies.
