Hopkinsville Man Charged With DUI

A Hopkinsville man was charged with DUI and possession of drugs after a traffic stop on West 7th Street Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they stopped 44-year-old Jason Chilton because his bike rack was blocking his license plate and during the stop, they could smell the odor of alcohol coming from him and his vehicle. After several field sobriety tests, he was arrested and after he was taken inside the jail he was reportedly found to have a pipe and marijuana on him.

Police say his vehicle did not have an ignition interlock device as indicated by his driver’s license status and alcoholic beverages were located in the vehicle.

He is charged with DUI fourth or more offenses, first-degree promoting contraband, license plate not legible, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
