One Killed, Four Injured in Caldwell County Crash

Kentucky State Police is investigating a multi-vehicle wreck on US 62 West in Caldwell County Friday that claimed the life of a Kuttawa man and injured four other individuals.

State Police responded to the wreck that occurred in the 11,000 block of US 62 West around 12:15 after receiving a request from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department to investigate a fatal collision.

State Police say a preliminary investigation revealed that 31year old Michael Wright, of Princeton, was driving an SUV eastbound on US 62 when he collided with the rear of an eastbound car driven by 59year old Carl Miner of Kuttawa as both vehicles slowed down due to another vehicle making a right turn into a local business.

The impact reportedly caused Miner’s vehicle to enter the westbound lane and crash head-on into a pickup truck driven by 31-year old Brandon Downs of Princeton.

According to State Police, Miner was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Caldwell County Coroner. A passenger in his vehicle, 20-year old Christian Stayton of Dawson Springs was flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.

State Police report Wright and his passenger, Tiffani Wright, went to Caldwell Medical Center for their injuries, and Downs was taken to Baptist Health Madisonville for his injuries.

US 62 West was closed for about 5 hours as law enforcement agencies worked the scene and investigated the wreck.
