Two 56th Circuit Judges Helping Decrease Trigg County Jail Budget

Trigg County Fiscal Court gave their nod to the Trigg County Jail budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year during their recent meeting, but the budget predicting a significant decrease due to the addition of second 56th Circuit Judge.

Trigg County Jailer James Hughes presented the budget to magistrates during the fiscal court meeting, with Hughes noting a drop in the number of prisoners that are housed in Christian County.

click to download audioHughes says the county is currently paying $30 per day to house prisoners at the Christian County Jail. He says the budget is predicted with a maximum average of 35 prisoners per day. Hughes currently has three full-time and part-time deputy jailer.
