Hopkinsville Man Charged In Shoplifting Incident

Police have released the name of a Hopkinsville man that was charged after he fled from Walmart in Hopkinsville during a shoplifting investigation Wednesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say 45-year-old George Daniel Jr. was seen shoplifting a fishing pole at Walmart, when he was stopped by employees and law enforcement he fled on foot crossing Fort Campbell Boulevard and going into Best Western.

He was reportedly located hiding in a utility room and found to have marijuana on him.

An ambulance was called to the scene to take him to the hospital for difficulty breathing after he allegedly stated he had used Fentanyl.

He was later charged with theft by unlawful taking, first-degree fleeing or evading police, public intoxication, and possession of marijuana.
