In a show that will run until April 8, the “Encounters with the Animal Kingdom” exhibit has already opened at the Janice Mason Art Museum in Cadiz.
Featuring several artists from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, France and India, the collection includes paintings, sketches and sculptures from the Society of Animal Artists — which was founded in 1960, and is comprised of round-the-globe talent, whose passion is to produce high-quality animal art.
The SAA is specifically devoted to “promoting excellence in the artistic portrayal of the creatures sharing our planet,” which often leads to the education of the public through art exhibitions, seminars, lectures and teaching demonstrations.
An opening reception will be held from 1-3 PM this Saturday at the JMAM, which is located at 71 Main Street in Cadiz.
Officials with the JMAM are continuing to encourage museum membership, especially in this 25th anniversary of the facility. The membership brings with it a number of discounted rates on purchases and programming, and those who join at or above the $100 level are privy to free admission at nearly 1,000 reciprocal museums across the country.
