Comer Discusses Spy Balloon & Haley Announcement

While the 2023 Farm Bill occupies a considerable amount of his current time, a pair of national stories also has the interest of 1st District Congressman James Comer.

First and foremost, the fly-by of a Chinese observation balloon has been dubbed “spy-like” in nature by national security officials.

Recently shot down off the coast of South Carolina and Myrtle Beach, Comer said both the House and the Senate remain “concerned” about American airpspace, and he criticized President Joe Biden’s response to the matter — one that captivated the nation for about a week.

Comer also noted that, at this moment, he’s also following the up-to-the-minute details for updates.

Then, on Wednesday, former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley officially announced she would be running for U.S. President on the Republican ticket.

She’s the first challenger of her former employer, President Donald Trump, as the GOP looks to unseat Biden’s potential for a second term.

Comer said the 2024 Republican Presidential Primary “could be interesting.”

According to thehill.com, other potential Republican candidates included Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
