Thomas, Young, And Seibert Sworn-In At CCMS Assembly (w/PHOTOS)

In front of a packed gymnasium with students, staff and family members, three local officials who will officially take office on January 1st were sworn in during an assembly at Caldwell County Middle School Tuesday morning.

CCMS Assistant Principal Laura Lee White welcomed everyone on hand and said it was a privilege for the school to hold the swearing-in ceremony.

Princeton Police Department’s School Resource Officer and newly elected mayor for the City of Princeton Brock Thomas was officially sworn in after the city council meeting Monday night but was sworn in again at the middle school with City Clerk and notary Julie Poole administering the oath of office.

click to download audioMayor-elect Thomas said it was an honor to be sworn in as the mayor at the school and be a part of the program. He added there will be challenges ahead with good and bad days which he followed up with a Bible verse from the book of Luke.

Caldwell County High School graduate and current Princeton Mayor Kota Young will be stepping into the role of judge-executive come January 1st. He was also administered the oath of office and told students they too can be standing where he is now.

Jim Seibert was also sworn in after being reelected in November to his second term as Fredonia’s mayor. He told students their goal as local elected officials are to make everything better in the county with a goal of having students return to the community.

click to download audioLeading up to the swearing-in ceremony, everyone who gathered in the gym for the assembly listened to some Christmas music performed by the Caldwell County Middle School Band. After the ceremony in the gym, students returned to their classrooms as Tuesday was the last day of school before Christmas break.
