Double D Group To Invest In Muhlenberg County

Less than a 40-minute drive from downtown Hopkinsville, good news came to the city of Greenville and Muhlenberg County Wednesday afternoon — when Gov. Andy Beshear announced the arrival of Double D Group LLC to the Pennyrile region.

Focused on food, beverage and agritech production, the protein-producing company has promised a $41.5 million investment in the means of a facility responsible for the creation of 200 direct full-time jobs and 40 contracted positions.

Set to locate in an existing 300,000-square-foot building at 100 Gourmet Dining Drive, the 65-year-old property received USDA certification for food and protein manufacturing in 2007. It’s primarily been used as a warehouse facility for retail grocery distribution, but has been vacant for the last half-year.

The company is expected to complete a full renovation that will include two production lines for poultry and other proteins, with room to grow new product lines. Job titles will include management, clerical, skilled labor and general labor.

The Double D Group is a brand-new subsidiary of Fairmont Foods Inc., which actually has a nearby warehouse facility on Greene Drive in Greenville, and this company has grown into becoming a fully-cooked protein processor, as well as a co-packer of frozen entrees.

Muhlenberg County Judge-Executive Curtis McGehee said his community was “fortunate” to land this industry, and gave a nod to the Muhlenberg Alliance of Progress and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development for recruiting efforts.

Greenville Mayor Jan Yonts writes she was “personally grateful” for the Double D Group recognizing the potential of existing real estate, while “capitalizing” on what the community has to offer.
