Bond Modification Denied Again In McHenry Street Murder Case

A Hopkinsville man charged with murder who has seen his trial date delayed a half-dozen times in two years saw his request for a bond modification again denied in Christian County Circuit Court.

Robert Torian III is charged with the 2019 fatal shooting of Terrell Moore after the two men got into an argument inside a vehicle on McHenry Street.

Defense attorney Jason Byrd told Judge Andrew Self that they are awaiting the final piece of evidence from the Hopkinsville Police Department.

click to download audioTorian’s trial date has been continued six times this year for various reasons. He has expressed his displeasure at the repeated continuations in court and did so again Wednesday to Judge Self during his motion for a bond modification.

click to download audioCommonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling told the court that Torian’s bond of $500,000 is appropriate.

click to download audioJudge Self said he understood why Torian was frustrated but felt the continuations were justified to provide him with the best defense possible.

click to download audioTorian has been in jail since his arrest in August 2019. He was charged with second-degree assault in August after an incident inside the jail.

Torian’s trial date is set for March 13 with a week set aside on the court calendar to hear and decide the case.
