Targeting residents that live in “personal care homes,” the 16th Annual “Forgotten Angels” Project is underway for the region — in hopes of bringing joy and gifts to those younger, suffering from mental illness.
Cindy Tabor, Pennyrile District ombudsman, said during Monday’s Pennyrile Area Development District meeting that of the 400 or so angels on this year tree, a little more than 200 remain available for Samaritans interested in the graciousness of gift-giving.
Tabor said there are three ways in which givers can contribute: by donating cash, by offering a wide variety of stocking stuffers, or by purchasing a specific “wish list” item noted by a potential recipient.
Stocking stuffers typically range from snacks options like chips, pretzels, dried fruit and hard candy, to board games like dominoes, checkers, UNO, Phase 10, and Skip-Bo. Tabor added that spiral notebooks, adult coloring books, pens & pencils, word searches along with socks, gloves, scarves, pillows and throws also serve as great options.
Razors, mouthwash and any glass won’t be accepted.
All donations need to be received at the PADD office, unwrapped, no later than Wedenesday, December 14.
