Russellville Man Charged After Elkton Pursuit

A Russellville man was charged after a high speed pursuit in Todd County Sunday afternoon.

Elkton Police Captain Jakop Smith says he observed two Ford Mustangs heading East on East Jefferson Davis Highway at a high rate of speed and was able to clock one of them with a moving radar at 113 mph in a 55 mph zone.

When law enforcement attempted to stop one of the cars driven by 19-year-old Logan Church he reportedly fled before coming to a stop two miles inside of Logan County on US 68.

He was arrested and charged with speeding, first-degree fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana.

Smith was assisted by Sgt. Patrick Turner of the Todd County Sheriff’s Office and deputies Josh Toomey and Colin Smith of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
