Gas prices are continuing their tumble in west central Kentucky, and just in time for Labor Day Weekend.

Per AAA’s East Central Gas Report, prices dipped three cents over the last week — down to a $3.35 per gallon average from last Monday.

Unleaded self-serve gasoline in Paducah is $3.24, $3.19 in Elizabethtown, $3.31 in Owensboro, $3.44 in Bowling Green and $3.59 in Louisville.

National average for a gallon of gas fell a nickel this past week to $3.85, and this week’s national average is $1.16 less than the mid-June all-time record, but still 71 cents more than this time last year.

An online survey conducted across the US in early August indicates that 32% of Americans plan to travel this Labor Day, with more than 80% expected to take a road trip.

Top destinations include Las Vegas, San Diego, Orlando, Alaska, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, Hawai’i and Europe.

A late-summer survey also found that 73% of Americans are planning a leisure trip after Labor Day, 52% will take a road trip, 30% will fly to a destination, and 7% will take a cruise.

AAA East Central is anticipating more than 16,000 drivers nationwide will need a roadside rescue between September 1-5.
