Futrell Named KAFC 2022 ‘Fire Chief Of The Year’

Hopkinsville Fire Department has officially announced that its Fire/EMS Chief, Steve Futrell, has been selected as the 2022 “Career Fire Chief of the Year” by the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs.

KAFC is a professional organization, comprised of volunteer and career fire chiefs from around the Commonwealth. It was a record year for nominees, and Futrell was nominated by Deputy Chief Bill Pyle, Deputy Chief Phillip Ferguson, Assistant Chief Chad Sivills and Inspector/PIO Payton Rogers.

Rogers said that Futrell’s time as fire chief in Hopkinsville has been well-spent bettering the department in “many ways,” while bringing that same level of service to the community.

Futrell accepted his award earlier this week at the 2022 Kentucky Fire Chief Leadership Conference in Bowling Green.
