The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and woman after several hours of negotiating their surrender when deputies went to a home on Dryden Creek Road to execute warrants over the weekend and they barricaded themselves inside the home.

Sheriff Brent White says Deputy Keith Suits and troopers with Kentucky State Police went to Lot #54 on Dryden Creek Road off KY 274 to execute arrest warrants on 40-year old Alan M. Pettus of Mortons Gap around 10:45 Sunday morning. He indicates Pettus was on parole from a 2014 Lyon Circuit Court felony conviction in which he received a 16-year sentence. In addition, he said that Pettus had two outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Hopkins County.

Upon arrival, Sheriff White says law enforcement observed a person at the front door, who slammed the door and would not answer repeated calls to open the door. Additional units arrived at the scene to assist and Sheriff White was able to obtain a search warrant for the property.
