After a five-month trial run with a Louisville-based public relations firm, the Christian County Public School System has named Johnna Brown as director of communications. Brown, who had been serving as interim communications director since March, will begin her new duties on July 1.

Brown began her educational career with Franklin-Simpson Schools in 2006 as a classroom instructional assistant. In 2011, she joined the staff at Belmont Elementary School where she spent four years as a clerical assistant. In 2015 she transferred to Sinking Fork Elementary School in the same role. She has also worked in support roles as an instructional technology assistant, district assessment office assistant, district instructional department, and communications assistant.

Brown’s appointment once again puts a local face as the primary contact point for the school’s public relations and communications. Last November, the school board voted 3-2 to enter into a five-month contract with Louisville-based RunSwitch to provide communications and media services for a capped cost of $30,000. The school board opted not to renew the contract in the spring.
