Christian County Non-Partisan Ballots Set

The ballot is set for the various non-partisan city and school board races that will appear on the Christian County November general election ballot although intents to run by write-in candidates have until October 28 to announce.

Dan Mason, who was unsuccessful in his bid for the Republican nomination for county judge-executive, has filed to run for the Christian County District 5 School Board seat held by chairman Tom Bell.

Meanwhile, District 3 incumbent Lindsey Clark will face opposition from Felicia Howard.

In the city of Oak Grove, Mayor Theresa Jarvis will face opposition from councilwoman Jackie Oliver.

There are six seats up for grabs on Oak Grove City Council. Incumbents Jean Leavell, Janet Edwards, Edward Cook, and Isaiah Spencer have filed to run for another term, joining challengers Richard Baker, John Campbell, Lloyd Andy Walters, and Rakim Barrett, Sr. to be among the top-six vote-getters elected to the city’s governing body.

In Crofton, Daniel Lacy is unopposed for mayor. Incumbents on the city council seeking another term are Anthony Durham, Reta Renee Fleming, Gregory Paul Owen, and James Grace. Wanda Croft and Wendell Alexander round out the ballot of six candidates with the top six vote-getters earning a seat on the council.

In Pembroke, City Commissioner Jeanette Aldridge will replace Judy Peterson as mayor with Peterson not seeking re-election. Five people are seeking four spots on the Pembroke City Commission. Incumbent Walter Bell will be joined on the ballot by Joe Rives, Karen Mitchell Pyle, Whitley Grace, and Joseph Wayne Stealy.

In Lafayette, Jared Donald Thatcher will become the new mayor after being unopposed in November.

There will be six people seeking four spots on the Lafayette City Council. Sandra Torres is the lone incumbent looking for another term. Also appearing on the ballot for city commission seats are Timothy Hancock, Jacob Mason, Autumn Hamilton, Stephen C. Stites, and Norma Banks.
