CCPS Releases Inclement Weather Plan for Friday Graduations If Needed

Christian County Schools will make the final call Friday afternoon on whether graduation ceremonies for Hopkinsville High and Christian County High will be held at the Stadium of Champions. Rain in the forecast has caused officials to look at their contingencies.

As of Thursday afternoon, there is no change in plans. Hopkinsville High is scheduled to graduate at 5 pm and Christian County High at 8:30 at the stadium.

In case of a weather delay, graduates and families will be notified of start times for the ceremonies which should be less than 30 minutes which would allow the ceremony to continue after the threat of weather, lightning, or storms has passed.

If rain forces the graduation to not be held at the stadium, the ceremony will move to the school’s gym. At that point, the school system said graduation will become a ticketed event. Graduates were issued 8 tickets during practice and a ticket will be required by each person wishing to attend.

Gates will open to the public at the stadium one hour prior to the scheduled ceremony. No tickets are needed for the ceremonies at the Stadium of Champions. Families are encouraged to use both sides of the stadium for seating.

The final decision is expected by two o’clock Friday afternoon.
