Britton Slated As Community And Development Services Executive Director

Community and Development Services of Hopkinsville, and its Board of Directors, have announced the selection of Thomas Britton as the next executive director. He will assume his duties June 1.

Britton holds a bachelor’s degree from Francis Marion University, and a master’s of public administration from Murray State University.

He began his career with CDS in 1995 as a planner, and later served as manager of planning from 1998-2002, and as assistant director from 2002-07.

From 2007 until 2019, Britton worked for the regional council of governments in South Carolina, before returning to Hopkinsville for the position of intergovernmental services coordinator at CDS.

Britton is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and is a Certified Floodplain Manager. He’s also an American Leadership Forum Fellow and member of the 2021-22 Hopkinsville-Christian County Leadership Class.

He and his wife, Debra, reside in Hopkinsville with their four children: Madison, Camden, Ebbie and Holly.

The announcement comes following the retirement celebration of former Executive Director Steve Bourne, who served at CDS through four decades.
