Gilliam Wins 4-Way Republican Race For Judge-Executive

Voters may want change, but they also want experience. Christian County District 7 Magistrate Jerry Gilliam took 36 percent of the vote to beat Dan Mason, Katie Moyer, and Tommy McGraw for the Republican nod for Christian County Judge Executive.

click to download audioGilliam was elected to the fiscal court in 2018. He will face incumbent Steve Tribble in the November General Election and with a win, would become Christian County’s first Republican judge-executive in 100 years.

Russ Guffey and Dave Fernandez will face off to fill the District 7 seat vacated by Gilliam. In other races, challenger JE Pryor beat District 4 incumbent Darrell Gustafson 429 to 372.

click to download audioPryor will be one of the youngest Magistrates in recent history. District 6 Magistrate Phillip Peterson held off challenger James McKnight by 130 votes. Neither will face opposition in the fall.

In November, District 2 Magistrate Mark Wells will face Republican challenger Josh Turner, District 3 Magistrate Mark Cansler will face challenger George Barnett, District 5 incumbent Rich Liebe will have opposition from AJ Rogers, and District 8 Magistrate Terry Bowman is being challenged by Republican John Bruce. District 1 Magistrate Maggie Ferguson faces no opposition.
