Oak Grove Man Charged With Drug Trafficking

An Oak Grove man was charged with trafficking drugs after a drug investigation in Oak Grove Thursday night.

Oak Grove Police say they conducted a search warrant at an Arkansas Avenue home and located 42-year-old Demond Kates, his wife, and several small children inside the home.

Kates reportedly had marijuana and a large amount of cash in his pocket and after a search of the home 9 grams of cocaine, 7 grams of heroin, 11 grams of crack cocaine, 39 doses of an unknown pill, 7 grams of Fentanyl, along with ecstasy and meth were found in a bedroom.

A loaded handgun and two digital scales were also allegedly found inside the bedroom. Police say Kates admitted that the drugs were all his.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree promoting contraband, and trafficking marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, Fentanyl, and meth.
