Hopkinsville Man Among 13 Indicted for Trafficking Meth

A Hopkinsville man and a former resident of Christian County were two of 13 people indicted by a federal grand jury this month in connection to a large-scale drug trafficking operation in the Owensboro area.

Court records said 35-year-old Barri Brown and 37-year-old Prince Northington of Owensboro were among the people who engaged in two conspiracies to distribute methamphetamine in Daviess County. 11 of the people indicted were from Owensboro and the other was from Louisville.

The 13 people are each charged with conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute methamphetamine. Brown is also charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

If convicted, the defendants face a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years and a maximum penalty of life in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
