Illinois Man Charged With DUI After Wreck In Trigg County

A Chicago, Illinois, man was charged with DUI after he reportedly wrecked a stolen vehicle on Interstate 24 Sunday afternoon.

Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called to the 62-mile marker after 32-year-old Jose Rico who was driving a stolen vehicle struck a vehicle and then fled the area on foot.

He was allegedly seen putting alcoholic beverages in the trunk of the vehicle before fleeing the area on foot. Deputies say Rico was located on Cerulean Road trying to get someone to give him a ride, his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

The vehicle was reported stolen out of Chicago. Rico was arrested and charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, operating on an expired operator’s license, receiving stolen property, and failure to maintain required insurance.
