Trigg County Awarded Emergency Road Aid Funds For Erosion Repairs

Trigg County has been awarded over $41,000 in County Road Aid Emergency Funds from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC).

District 1 spokesman Keith Todd says the funds are for erosion repairs at the Long Pond Branch Bridge near the north end of Adams Mill Road, about a mile southwest of KY 139/Princeton Road. He indicates flash flooding has caused the stream to erode the bank near the bridge, creating a threat to the integrity of the roadway and bridge structure. He says the county plans to repair the embankment and place riprap to prevent further erosion at the site.

State Transportation Secretary Jim Gray says they are pleased to approve this emergency funding request from Trigg County to assist with the repair and maintenance of safe connections in the community.

According to Todd, the award was authorized March 25. He says the Trigg County Road Department plans to start work on the erosion repairs as soon as possible.

The KYTC Division of Rural and Municipal Air preserves a portion of city and county funds to help cover such emergencies. Todd says a check will be issued to Trigg County Fiscal Court which will be responsible for the project.
