Three Injured In Two Separate Shootings In Hopkinsville

A Hopkinsville man has been charged Thursday in connection to the murder of a Beaver Dam man that was found deceased inside of a home on North McPherson Avenue in Hopkinsville on March 13th.

Hopkinsville Police say on March 13th a woman called law enforcement for a person that was possibly deceased inside her home just before 10 pm. 31-year-old John Kellems was found inside the home and was pronounced dead by the Christian County Coroner’s Office. Police say Kellems had been stabbed leading to his death.

31-year-old Lance Bowden was arrested on March 14th after a stolen vehicle investigation and while in jail was charged with the murder of Kellems.

The home is located at the 100 block of North McPherson Avenue.

Bowden remains in jail on charges of murder and theft by unlawful taking.

Meanwhile, a Hopkinsville man has been charged in connection to a shooting on West 18th Street that severely injured another man Thursday night.

Hopkinsville Police say a man showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound to his abdomen after a fight that happened on West 18th Street at South Main Street just after 6 pm.

25-year-old Jonathan Amerson reportedly got into a fight with a man and shot him then fled the area before police arrived.

The man was flown to a Nashville hospital with severe injuries.

Multiple shell casings were found on the sidewalk on West 18th Street. Police temporarily blocked off the road as they collected evidence.

Amerson was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
