Madisonville Man Charged With Murder In Juvenile Drug Overdose Case

A 21-year old Madisonville man has been charged with murder in connection to the drug overdose of a 15-year old female in October 2021.

Madisonville Police report deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a medical emergency on October 3. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found a 15-year old female deceased. Police say an autopsy report revealed the juvenile’s death was due to a drug overdose of Fentanyl.

According to the police report, detectives with the Madisonville-Hopkins County VICE/Narcotics Unit opened an investigation and learned that the 15-year old girl was messaging Tyriek Palmer in reference to purchasing the counterfeit Percocet 30s. The detectives also learned the juvenile had received the pills the night before and posted about them on Snapchat. Detectives reportedly found evidence at the scene that substantiated the information. Police say an analysis conducted at the Kentucky State Police Forensics lab revealed a pill located on the scene was laced with Fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opiate.

Detectives with the VICE/Narcotics Unit, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and U.S. Secret Service, have been jointly investigating this incident. Police say after several months of investigation, detectives arrested Palmer on Tuesday.

Palmer was charged with murder and trafficking in a controlled substance Carfentanil or Fentanyl derivatives. He was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail.
