Two Christian County Fire Departments Announce Plans For New Buildings

Pembroke Fire Department

Crofton and Pembroke Fire Departments have both announced plans for new fire stations this year.

Pembroke Fire Department Chief Nick Belair told the News Edge they have purchased land next to their department for a new fire station that will help them house more equipment.

Belair says they hope to have the land cleared and plans done soon adding the new station will have more space, a gym, office space, five truck bays, and an event area.

The station will be located at South Main Street and Springs Street where the old drug store that was damaged in the recent tornado is currently.

The Pembroke Fire Department has been in the same building for 36 years.

Crofton Fire Department Chief Tim Terrell says they will be starting to break ground on a new fire station on East Main Street in Crofton within a few weeks.

Terrell says the new building will have three large bays and two of them will be drive-thru bays and the building will be capable of housing 6 or more vehicles and have a large training room.

Terrell says they will still be using the building behind City Hall so they have coverage on both sides of the railroad.

The building they are replacing was built in the mid 90’s.
