School Board Chooses Name For Consolidated High School

The new high school in Christian County will be the Hopkinsville Christian County Academy.

The decision came from a four to one vote by the Christian County Public School Board of Education Thursday night. Board Member Mike Walker says he served on the committee and did not like the name.

click to download audioThe new school’s mascot will be the Wolfpack and the colors will be royal blue and black.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Chris Bentzel reviewed the District’s Strategic Plan, which includes moving 6th grade back to the elementary schools.

click to download audioThe full-day preschool will start with the 2024 School year. The first step to that was taken Thursday night with the approval to accept bids for portable buildings at Millbrooke Elementary for two years to allow space for art, music, special ed, and interventions. This would free up space in the building for preschool.

In other business, the Board approved several other bidding opportunities, upcoming school year fees, and three advertising new positions – Communications Director, Instructional Supervisor, and High School Consolidation Coordinator.
