Details Released In Hopkinsville High-Speed Pursuit

Law enforcement has released more information about a pursuit on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville Friday morning.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they were assisting Hopkinsville Police with a burglary in progress at the 10000 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard when they located a van coming from the area and tried to stop it.

The van driven by 43-year-old Damien Gray of Clarksville reportedly went into the JPM parking lot at speeds of 90 mph narrowly missing an off-duty sheriff’s deputy in the parking lot before going off-road and jumping two hills and becoming airborne.

Authorities say the pursuit ended in the middle of a field near Harry Berry Lane and the van caught fire after Gray and his passenger 35-year-old Sarah Barton attempted to flee on foot.

Gray reportedly asked law enforcement if they and the person he stole from realized the things he stole were going to feed his family.

They were both arrested and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police and receiving stolen property. Gray was also charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
