Three major storms in the last two months have officials with Land Between the Lakes assessing damage and trying to determine whether popular attractions will open on time this spring.

The northern and southern parts of Land Between the Lakes suffered tornado damage in December, mostly to trees and vegetation. Division of Forestry spokesman Scott Raymond said teams of specialists have been on the ground assessing the damage caused by December’s tornadoes and last week’s ice storm.

Portions of the North South Trail and the Fort Henry Trail are closed due to storm damage, and Raymond said numerous downed and damaged trees have resulted in impassible trails, dangerous conditions, and public safety concerns in other areas.
