A Princeton woman has launched her campaign for district judge for the 56th judicial district in what is now a three-way primary race.
Jennifer Nelson, who was the first candidate to file for the race, has launched a website and social media account to connect with voters.
Nelson was born in Paducah and moved to Princeton in 2008 after receiving her law degree from the
University of Louisville in 2005 and her undergraduate degree from Murray State University in 2000.
In a media release, Nelson said her private practice encompasses all areas of domestic relations, guardianship issues and cases involving children and families.
She has also been active in the foster care system as a foster parent and training volunteer. She has three children and is a proud supporter of the Special Olympics.
Nelson is seeking the Division 1 seat currently held by Judge Jamus Redd, who has filed to run for the circuit judge seat held by the retiring C.A. Woodall III.
Brandon Knoth and Matt Schalk have also filed for the seat. While the race is a non-partisan one, the top two vote getters in the May 17 primary will face off in the November general election.
