A Hopkinsville woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck involving a tractor-trailer on I-24 in Marshall County Tuesday afternoon.
Marshall County Emergency Management reported the crash occurred around 1:30 near the 29-mile marker which is between the Smithland and Calvert City exits.
24-year-old Kayln Nicole Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by Marshall County Deputy Coroner Kenny Pratt. Kentucky State Police said Williams was eastbound on the Tennessee River Bridge when, for unknown reasons, she collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer driven by Christy Mulford of Heathsville, Virginia who was slowed in traffic due to an oversized load ahead of her.
The eastbound lanes of I-24 were blocked for nearly five hours as police investigated the crash and emergency management secured the scene. State police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
