Dawson Springs Teen Killed In Caldwell County Wreck

A Dawson Springs teen was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Caldwell County Tuesday night.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 spokesman Trooper Brandon McPherson reports troopers were called to investigate the wreck at the intersection of KY 91/Hopkinsville Road and KY 672 shortly before 6:30.

He says a preliminary investigation revealed that 18-year old Landon Pace, of Dawson Springs, was operating a SUV westbound on KY 672 when for an unknown reason he entered the intersection of KY 91 in front of a southbound vehicle driven by 31-year old Michael Lipson of Princeton.

Lipson’s vehicle reportedly hit the passenger side of Pace’s SUV causing both vehicles to travel off the road into the Dollar General parking lot. Pace’s SUV then hit an unoccupied parked vehicle in the store’s parking lot.

Trooper McPherson says Pace and Lipson were both transported by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville. A passenger in Pace’s vehicle, 18-year old Logan McKnight of Dawson Springs, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he died from his injuries.

According to state police, another 16-year old passenger from Pace’s vehicle was also flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for treatment. McKnight and Pace were both athletes at Dawson Springs High School and all three were reportedly en route to a basketball scrimmage in Cadiz Tuesday night when the wreck occurred.

Dawson Springs Public Schools Superintendent Leonard Whalen said multiple clergy and counselors were at the school Wednesday and a prayer vigil was held at the First Baptist Church later in the afternoon.

Kentucky State Police are continuing to investigate the wreck.
