Trigg County Fiscal Court Approves PADD Precinct Analysis

Similar to other counties in west Kentucky, Trigg County Fiscal Court and its officials unanimously adopted the Pennyrile Area Development District’s reapportionment and redistricting services Monday afternoon — in what will be a step-by-step analysis and possible re-rendering of magisterial and voting precincts.

Based on 2020 US Census data, Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander noted there could be little — if any — changes coming to Cadiz and its surrounding areas.

However, the services of PADD bring some official clarity, and will use not only the census trends of the last decade to determine sectors — but will also refer to mapping software, base datasets in topography and natural boundaries, as well as current populations within 10 percent variance.

Alexander added the contract with PADD will cost $55/hour, and will not exceed more than $5,000 of work.

*The fiscal court also unanimously approved the second reading of the 10-year regulatory franchise agreement with Mediacom Southeast LLC, which grants the digital service mogul rights to erect, maintain and operate in, under, over, along and across streets, lanes, avenues, sidewalks, alleys, bridges, highways and easements in public places across the county to maintain cable services to the community.

*Among one of the county’s heftier bills paid in recent weeks went to the Rogers Group for chip & seal efforts totaling more than $650,000. Alexander noted this is for the work on four roads, which will soon include Old Hopkinsville Road and Riley Hollow Road. Alexander added Barefield Road is also among those to possibly get started and completed before the end of the year.

*Officials from the Trigg County Schools recently contacted the Trigg County Fiscal Court, in need of adults to virtually read to students on Wednesday, November 17. County Treasurer Lucy Oliver Kyler noted there are various timeslots, mostly in the morning, available — as well as various age groups. Kyler said the school needs several more volunteers in order to meet demands.
